Feeding finicky cats

Taste is an individual thing, even for cats. Some prefer fish, others meat. Your cat will let you know what she likes... by eating or not.

Whiskas® food for cats has many flavors and textures cats can't resist. You might even try feeding your cat a range of Whiskas® pouches, canned and dry foods over the course of a week. Just like humans, cats often like variety, and adding variety to her diet can actually train your cat to be less finicky and enjoy a wider range of flavors.

At times of stress, however, most cats will prefer the familiar. Your cat might lose her appetite if she feels that the natural order of her life is disrupted. For instance, if she's boarded in a strange home or if a new piece of furniture arrives in "her" home, she may become upset and stressed. In these situations, give her plenty of love and attention, and she will regain her sense of security and appetite.

Cats don't like cold food served straight from the refrigerator. They prefer their food at room temperature, which is closer to their own body temperature and to that of fresh prey.

You can store unopened wet pouches of Whiskas® food for cats at room temperature. Give your cat Whiskas® food for cats (wet) out of a pouch, the perfect size for single-serve dinners.

Finally, but equally important, don't forget to keep your cat's feeding dishes clean. The smell of stale food can put her off her next meal.
